Gilberte was a remarkable example of how to live life fully alive always caring for and reaching out to others. What a gift to family, friends and her many communities. My wife Margarit and I only came to know her late in life as my search for my biological father brought me to Markstay and her family. She remembered my mother, a young teacher, boarding with her family, the Roys, at the time1939. She shared with us some very special memories about my mother from those times, for which I am very grateful. On subsequent visits, while at her daughters Paulette, she greeted Marg and I, in her welcoming, loving and kind ways, as extended family.
