Lori left us way too soon on July 8th, 2019 after a very short battle with cancer. Lori died as she lived, facing her illness with courage and on her own terms. Despite rapidly deteriorating health Lori made sure those closest to her were reminded of how much they meant to her. Anais Nin said “People living deeply have no fear of death” and in Lori’s final days she reflected on the blessings of her life and accepted peacefully what was to come. Lori will be missed terribly by the love of her life David Garbutt, daughter Joan Strawn (Jason), son Bill Garbutt (Heather) and grand-children Evelyn and Wilson as well as countless other family and friends. The family would like to thank the team at Health Sciences North for the excellent and compassionate care that she received. Donations can be made by cheque, in Lori’s name to the Health Sciences North Palliative Care Unit. A celebration of life has been scheduled for July 27th in North Bay.
