Obituary for Lucienne Paquette (Coutu)

Lucienne Paquette (Coutu)
Surrounded by friends and family, Lucienne Paquette (née Coutu) passed away, Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the St-Joseph Continuing Care Centre of Sudbury, Clarion site at the age of 99. Beloved wife of the late Léo Paquette and cherished mother of Madeleine and Rhéal Paquette (Denise). Predeceased by her parents Arthur and Marianna Coutu. Dear sister of late Adrienne Bureau, late Jeanne Bureau, late Albert, late Joseph and Thérèse Lachance. Cherished grandmother of Shäna Smith (Marco) and Renée Bouillon (Peter) and loving great-grandmother to Nikola and Sébastien Smith and Aleah and Brayden Bouillon. She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Lucienne loved her 25 years working as a supervisor at Zellers and the people she worked with. She spent many hours in her huge garden and especially enjoyed eating fresh tomatoes off the vine. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking and making puzzles. Her needlepoint work will remain wonderful memories of her determination and hard work. She loved playing Golf - the card game, her lively discussions about politics and religion with Denise and enjoyed the scrumptious ribs for dinner with Denise and Nicole.

Born on St. Joseph’s birthday, she was a devout catholic and spent much of her time praying for peace on Earth and for all those she loved.

Her strong will to live has always been evident but during a recent fall where she broke her hip, she showed incredible resilience and strength having gone through rehab and was again walking on her own. The nurses and physiotherapists were very impressed by her hard work and determination. A special thank you to the staff at the Clarion Site especially Jessica and Laura G and Dr. Roch as well as to Msgr. J.P. Jolicoeur for his spiritual visits.

In accordance with Lucienne’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held St-Jean-de-Brébeuf church at 375 Notre-Dame Avenue, on Tuesday, June 28 at 10:30 AM. Family and friends can gather in the church lobby as early as 10 AM. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations of a mass in her honour would be appreciated and can be made by cheque to Paroisse St-Jean-de-Brébeuf.
