Obituary for Victor Joseph Kimakowich

Victor Joseph Kimakowich
KIMAKOWICH, Victor Joseph
December 1, 1926 - November 23, 2019

Victor Kimakowich, a resident at Extendicare York and formerly from Chelmsford, ON passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2019. Born in the Municipality of Ethelbert, Manitoba, Victor was
predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Kimakowich, his son Todd Robertson, his parents Rosalia and Joe and his 12 siblings. Left to treasure his memory are his daughters, Rose-Marie Joanette (Andre), Kelly Cheeseman (John) and Kae Shelby Roberts as well as his son, Perry Kimakowich (Joanne). He is survived by his grandchildren Evan, Kavin, Kailey and Quenby Joanette; Taylor and Tamara Kimakowich; Adam and Andrew Cheeseman; Elliot and Brett Robertson. He was a great-grandfather to Thomas, Eva-Rose, Leighton, Gordon, Henry, Madeline, James, Tylee, Taya, Jacob, Rarity and Trinity. Victor was a miner at Falconbridge Nickel Mines for 25 years, retiring in 1985. Having grown up on a farm in Pulp River, MB, he never lost interest in farming, growing potatoes, beans, lettuce, tomatoes and much more in his backyard plot. He and our mom, Shirley were avid dancers and just melded together on the dance floor. Although the last seven years without his “Shirley” were lonely for him, up until six weeks ago he lived independently and ventured out every day on his scooter to get groceries. He loved to chat with people and his daily trips to the Metro were mandatory for him as he would say, “I have to get my fresh air.” Friends and family may pay respects at the Cooperative Funeral Home at 4691, RR 15, Chelmsford ON. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. followed by a service in the Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place on a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery (Chelmsford) where he will be laid to rest with our mother. Truly, Dad you were loved and will be missed by all of us. Rest in peace until we meet again. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
